Once Raja Sant Ram Sarmal who held the Zaildari estate within adjoining hilly areas of Samba saw her at Mata Mall Devi (Sukrala Mata) temple in Billawar and was attracted to her beauty. He tried to approach her and asked for her name. Being a noble girl she is not bound to reply every unknown, she replied. This attitude of her made Ram to fell in love with her, he ordered his servants to find out her residence.
After locating her home, a messanger was sent with marriage proposal to her father; the father was so delighted that he accepted it without any further delay but when Bainti came to know she spoke that messanger," Tell to your master, if he really wants to marry her then prove his significance by the winning the grand match of upcoming Dangal (Wrestling match) in their village". Hearing this her father scolded her and told that she was so lucky to get such proposal.
He then assured the messanger that he was ready for this marriage and what her daughter told was due to her innocence. When the whole incident was narrated to Sant Ram by his personals then he took pledge to marry only after winning that Dangal as it was strike on his prestige. Match took place and he won it; after this marriage was carried out.
Everything was going well and the newly married couple was living with joy and happiness. Once Sant Ram was out on a millitary expedition and a few tribal approached Bainti Devi for help; but when they came to know that Sant Ram was not at home, they filled with grief. At this, Bainti Devi asked them to explain about their anxiety then the Tribals informed her that their only daughter was kidnapped by the tribal chief Neiki, after their daughter had refused his marriage proposal. When Bainti Devi heard this she filled with anger and with her trusted servants marched quickly to the tribal cheif's residence and demanded the tribal chief to return the girl.
Neiki refused by saying that he was not supposed to surrender in front of a woman, if she had guts then she might try. Bainti Devi without a moment of hesitation took out her sword and struck Neiki; Neiki was dead and his men fled away. The girl was saved and returned to her parents. When Sant Ram returned, he came to know about this incident; he filled with great feeling of happiness by thinking that he really married a real tigress. Sadly, their happily marriage was not for everlasting; Sant Ram died due to sickness when his son was only of twelve and whole the responsibilities falls on the shoulders of Bainti Devi. She performed all the duties of his husband with complete perfection. She was known by the name of death for gamblers, theifs and drunkards as she used to punish when found any of person being involved in it. She is the sign of woman power; the feminist of today must learn something from her for whom women upliftment/power is something else .
