Arjun Singh Chanasia

When Sikhs invaded Jammu, the Dogras who had the spirit of living with freedom tried to give them tough fight. They had been enjoying independency from the age unknown. They believed Jammu should be ruled by their people themselves. This trend was same in whole of the hilly areas of state, the people were filled with significant fire of being free from clutches of foreigners. One of such great warrior from this land who stood for freedom was Arjun Singh Chanasia. He was the senior contemporary of Miyan Dido, who have the very important role in history of Jammu as he made the enemies to tremble in fear of death.
Infact both of them had the perfect coordination in deliberation of Gurellia attack. The region by side of Jhajar to Jammu was the Gurellia warfare of Miyan Dido while the region from other side of river Jhajar till Dhuddar was under the command of Arjun Singh Chanasia. Both were always ready to force foreign invaders to leave Jammu. They wanted Jammu Raj an independent sovereign state. They attacked the fortified areas of invaders.
Big drums were used for Chanasia Gurellias scattered through length and breadth of of this region, as the sound signals. The very sound was indicative of war and through variations in the note where the gathering is conveyed.
Arjun Singh had the sound physique with long arms which were always ready to cut the throat of enemies even sitting on the horseback. He was the demi God for the commoners would look him for justice. He was killed by his own relative stealthily with a gun. People all over the vicinity were stunned and paid their homage to the departed hero. The rock where he was killed is still preserved as a monuments. He was the dogra warrior who gave the message that We people should go to any extent in order to preserve our freedom. He is pride of us but is unknown to today's people.
